WEBSTER IS AN 1878 VICTORIAN IN A HISTORIC DISTRICT IN PACIFIC HEIGHTS. THE EXISTING STRUCTURE HAD BEEN REARRANGED INTO A WARREN OF SMALL AND DISPROPORTIONATE ROOMS. THE CLIENT’S GOAL WAS TO BRING THIS HOME CLOSER TO IT’S ORIGINAL LAYOUT, OPENING IT UP TO CREATE BETTER FLOW FOR MODERN DAY LIVING WHILE HONORING THE HISTORY OF THE BUILDING. THE DESIGN WAS INSPIRED BY VICTORIAN ENGLISH TOWNHOMES & THE COLORATION FROM A PIECE OF ART THAT WAS DEAR TO THE CLIENT.

WE OPENED UP THE MAIN LEVEL CREATING AN ENTERTAINER’S KITCHEN WITH A COZY DINING NOOK SURROUNDED BY FRENCH DOORS CREATING THE ILLUSION OF MORE SPACE BY EXPANDING THE FOOTPRINT OF THE HOUSE TO CAPTURE A 3' LIGHTWELL. THE UPSTAIRS WAS RECONFIGURED FROM A 2 BD & 1 VERY TINY BATH  WITH AN  OPEN LOFT BACK TO A VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL LAYOUT WHICH WAS 3BD PLUS A LARGE MASTER BATH. THE BASEMENT WAS ORIGINALLY AN OPEN GARAGE WITH 6’6” CEILINGS. WE DUG DOWN THE BASEMENT LEVEL TO 8’6”, TRANSFORMING THE  3 CAR GARAGE TO 1 CAR AND INCORPORATING THE REST OF THE AREA TO LIVING SPACE, ADDING 600 SQUARE FEET TO THE HOME, INCLUDING A LAUNDRY ROOM, BATHROOM & FAMILY ROOM/ GUESTROOM WITH SHADE GARDEN LIT FROM WALKABLE SKYLIGHTS ABOVE.
