Design Strategy is a guided, 1:1 process where we define a North Star for your project and create a clear decision-making framework before design begins. Together, we establish the experience, values, priorities, and guiding principles that will shape the project. In other words: we understand what you're creating and why. By establishing a clear vision at the outset, every decision that follows becomes more intentional, coherent, and confident.
WHY BEGIN WITH STRATEGY?
Strategy turns hundreds of individual design decisions into one coherent vision.
Without a strategy, it's common to experience overwhelm, analysis paralysis, differing opinions, chasing trends, disconnected design decisions, expensive mistakes, second guessing decisions or delayed timelines.
Traditional design starts by looking outward to Pinterest, Instagram, magazines, or what's trending, but the most meaningful spaces start by looking inward. Instead of asking," What do I like?", we ask, "What matters to me?", "How do I want to live?", "What do I want this space to support?" By looking inward first, we create a point of view that makes the decisions that follow clearer.
Defining a clear roadmap changes the question from, "Do I like this?", to "Does this support the experience we're trying to create?". Design Strategy creates a shared vision with clear priorities, guiding principles and confident decision making. You not only know that you like something, you are able to discern why you like it and if it's appropriate for your project. The decision process is easier and the outcome is better design.

Through three phases of guided reflection, conversation, and interpretation, we uncover the patterns, priorities, and aspirations that will shape your project. Each phase concludes with a presentation synthesizing your insights, culminating in a cohesive project vision that becomes the foundation for every design decision that follows.

My process incorporates frameworks such as Human Design and Feng Shui as part of this exploration, so it's best suited to those who are open to exploring beyond conventional design methods.
WHY HUMAN DESIGN & FENG SHUI?
Human Design is a framework for understanding how you naturally make decisions, process information, interact with others and experience your environment. I use it as one of several frameworks to ask better questions, recognize patterns, and design spaces that feel more supportive of the way you naturally function.
Feng Shui provides another perspective for understanding how the organization and flow of an environment influence the people who inhabit it.
Human Design is a tool helping you understand the person. Feng Shui is a tool helping you understand the environment. Design Strategy is the process of bringing the two into thoughtful alignment.

Some use their strategy as a blueprint to confidently move forward independently, while others choose to continue our collaboration as we translate that vision into concept development or a full service design project.

While some clients use their Design Strategy document to guide a project independently, many continue into Design Direction, where we begin giving that vision form. We translate your project vision from Design Strategy into a visual concept—materials, colors, forms, and a cohesive look and feel.
Strategy defines why we're designing. Design Direction explores how that vision could take shape.

Independent Implementation
For clients who enjoy managing their own projects, the Concept Deck provides a clear creative framework to confidently source furnishings, materials, and finishes while staying true to the original vision.
Guided Implementation
Some clients prefer to implement the design themselves while checking in along the way. Through Office Hours, you can schedule consulting sessions whenever you need feedback on selections, layouts, or design decisions, ensuring everything continues to align with the overall concept.
Full-Service Interior Design
For clients who want a more comprehensive partnership, I can continue guiding the project through detailed design, documentation, selections, and implementation.

Full-Service Interior Design for Residential and Commercial full and partial remodels builds on your strategy and Design Direction, taking care of the detailed design development, sourcing, specifications, purchasing, coordination, and implementation required to bring the vision to life. We manage the many decisions and details between the initial concept and the finished space so you don't have to.
